Notes Stored in Mac
Follow the steps to know where Notes are stored on Mac Monterey and other versions.
- Open Finder in your Mac.
- Click on the Go in the top menu bar.
- Select Go To Folder…Enter the following path,
- ~/Library/Group Containers/group.com.apple.notes/
- Once the path opens, you’ll see various Notes Files stored locally on the Mac along with the Notes of iCloud, which are caches on Mac storage.
- The Notes on Mac are stored in different files, like “NoteStore.sqlite” named file stores all the text data, while the media that you’ve added in the Notes are located in the “Media,” “FallbackImages,” and “Previews” files.
For copying from one mac to another manually:
1. On the mac you will transfer Notes from, Navigate to ~/Library/Group Containers/ in "Go" menu of your Mac, then look for group.com.apple.notes folder and drag it to a location for copying to the new mac.
2. Once on the new mac, launch Notes to ensure it creates files in the same directory, then quit Notes. Finally, copy that file you created on the old mac to the SAME location on the new mac and choose "replace" - this should bring Notes from the old mac to the new exactly how they were
